Broken Rake is brewed by Pyramid Breweries in Seattle, Washington. This was the first beer I had after moving to Seattle in November of 2008 as I had it after a long day of hauling boxes and furniture up to our 3rd floor apartment that we had at the time.
Gutter Punk'n is brewed by Schooner Exact Brewing in Seattle, Washington. I first tried this beer at the 2010 Elysian Great Pumpkin Festival as a small taste but I am having it tonight from the Schooner Exact swing-top bottle that I purchased at PCC in West Seattle.
Good Monkey is a seasonal Belgian-style golden ale brewed by Yakima Craft Brewing in Yakima, Washington. I first tried this beer 2 weeks ago in Seattle, Washington. I found this beer at the Beer Junction in West Seattle.
Toohey's Extra Dry is brewed in Australia and is owned by Lion Nathan. I tried this beer while I was in Australia visiting friends in November of 2007 toward the end of my time that I was there, most likely in Sydney.
Black Sheep Riggwelter is brewed by Black Sheep Brewery in Yorkshire Dales, England. This beer was highly recommended to me by a friend I made while traveling in Egypt in late 2006. I tried this beer once I returned to the US in Laramie, Wyoming in the spring of 2007.
I have just recently spent three days in Portland, Oregon. This was my first trip to Portland and I wanted to try food from food trucks in the city as well as visit a few of my favorite breweries. I ended up visiting four breweries/brewpubs while I was there. I began with one of the McMenamins pubs, Ringlers Pub at the Crystal Ballroom on Sunday night and I had their sampler, which had 7 beers to try. Around noon on Monday, I headed out away from downtown to visit Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB) on the east side of Portland.
At HUB, I tried their sampler and had a light lunch, their sampler consisted of 6 year-round beers and 4 seasonals!!! Later in the afternoon, I had some free time after returning to the downtown hotel. I walked a couple of blocks to the Brewery Blocks neighborhood and stopped at the Deschutes BrewingPublic House brewpub near Powell's Books. While I was there I tried their sampler, which I was able to select 6 beers from. I chose ones that I hadn't ever tried before, mostly ones only available at the pub that were not packaged and sold elsewhere and I followed those with a pint of their cask Green Lakes Organic Ale. As the afternoon and evening went on I spent more time walking around downtown and went to a movie (The Debt) at the Livingroom Theaters, where I could have had a drink (or food) during the movie but I was waiting for a special evening treat... The final stop for the day was to visit the RogueDistillery and Public House also in Downtown Portland. Along with dinner I had a Mogul Madness Ale, which was very good. In the end, I purchased several beers to go from Rogue including a beer that I anticipate will be one of the ones I talk about for years and years to come...the VOODOO Bacon Maple Ale. I haven't tried it yet but I will definitely share it here on the blog when I do.
It has been just over a year since I began this blog. I started hoping to post once a day but that hasn't exactly happened. In the first full 12 months of this blog I have shared a little more than 280 drinks since some have also been flavored malt beverages and non-alcoholic brews as well.
With over 3600 page views, I feel that this is gaining steam and becoming a little more successful sharing my experiences with each post. The number of page views each day has been increasing over the last few months and will only increase with additional postings each time I add a beer.
In my tracking, I have tried a full serving (bottle, can or glass of draught) of over 1160 beers. Since I have shared the 280 or so, I still have nearly 900 beers to share and I will continue to post about them as well as try new ones as I go so I don't know how long it will take to run out of items to share.
